This is not just a little resemble a Blackberry, the Portege G710 is designed exactly the same market as devices such as the BlackBerry 8130 the Portégé stands out, however, that it runs on Windows Mobile, and it is possible using the device with Microsoft Exchange Server to Push E-mail.

This is not a 3G phone – Toshiba Portege G710 is a quad-band GSM device with GPRS and EDGE. There is no WiFi. Although the high-speed data is a nice thing to have, there was really no need for e-mail and Toshiba G710 should include just fine when it comes to messaging.

At 115 x 62 x 13mm and 130 grams in weight, the G710 is quite similar to that of the competition, although a little thinner than most. The 1050 mAh battery, the player G710 for up to 3 hours of talk time and 8 days of standby. Windows Mobile is rather the power of brain cells quickly enough, so that the life of the battery on the G710 is not as good as some of the non-compete.

The 2.46 inch with 320 x 240 pixel screen is pretty standard for this type of aircraft, even if the lack of a touch screen can be irritating, if equipped with a satellite navigation package. On the back of page 2 is a megapixel camera, G710 and memory expandable supports microSD It also comes with Bluetooth phones USB 1.1 and 1.2 connectivity.

No specific release date is known, but we understand that the G710 will be available in early March for about € 220 / £ 150 before taxes, and all holders of subsidies.

LG has been launch LG KS20, a touchscreen phone running Windows Mobile. This is a 3G phone with WiFi, Bluetooth, 2 megapixel camera with flash on the back. The LG KS20 also has microSD expandable memory.

The KS20 isn’t just a 3G phone, it’s a 3.5G HSDPA device. With the large touchscreen 2.8″ panel, the LG KS20 is competing with the upcoming European version of the Apple iPhone, and ironically the new LG KU990 “Viewty” touchscreen phone.

With 240 x 320 pixel display, and the rumor is that the LG KS20 is 12.8mm thick which would make the handset around 92 x 55mm when viewed from the front. One slightly strange feature is the large expanse of plastic that appears to be underneath the screen.

LG KS20 expected in the shops by Christmas, although pricing and availability are not known at present.

O2 has been design unusual and attractive clam shell phone in the UK during August. It’s name Cocoon with very elegant look handset with highly specified device.

The chassis of O2 Cocoon has hidden display panel with large LED-style letter. It’s like Sony Ericsson Z610i concept which external display can show track information, caller ID and other messages.

When ypu open the O2 Cocoon, the minimalist design continue inside of it with uncluttered layout. Feature wih QVGA (240x 320 pixel) display with autofocus 2 megapixel camera. There are also a MP3 player, FM radio with RDS, expanded memory until 2GB with mini SD card. The keypad is pretty simple with media control and discretely mounted on the outside. Cocoon also come with web broser and email client.

Other feature which make Cocoon clever it’s called the ‘nest’. It’s just a docking station with built in charger but turn the Cocoon into desktop MP3 player/radio/alarm clock. It’s very cool!!

The O2 Cocoon will be release August 2007 in UK market but the pricing is not known at present. [ Via mobilegazette ]

The Sony Ericsson K550i (and the i-mode variant, the K550im) are perhaps a good example of the way technology progresses in the mobile phone industry. Almost two years ago, Sony Ericsson announced what was then their high-end camera phone, the K700i. Today, the K550i shares almost exactly the same features, but as the number designation shows, Sony Ericsson now regards this particular handset as a mid-range device.

The K550i is very similar to the K700i with a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, a 1.9″ 176×220 pixel display, Bluetooth, an FM radio and expandable memory. One other obvious difference is the “Cyber-shot” branding on the K550i, even though the camera is pretty much the same as the old non Cyber-shot K750i. Of course, the K750i had a reputation for possessing one of the best cameras around, and the K550i is likely to be equally impressive.

In addition to the K550i, there is also a K550im variant. This is an i-mode device which retains all the features of the K550i and adds an i-mode browser, although the keypad layout is slightly different and the K550im loses the “Cyber-shot” branding.

Sony Ericsson K550i Specification:
Network: GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Data: GPRS + EDGE
Screen: 176×220 pixels, 262k colours
Camera: 2 megapixels
Size: Medium monoblock, 102 x 46 x 14mm / weight tbc
Bluetooth: Yes
Memory card: Memory Stick Micro
Infra-red: Yes
Polyphonic: Yes
Java: Yes
Battery life: 7 hours talk / 14 days standby

There are some important differences though – the main one is that the Sony Ericsson K550i is only 14mm thick (compared with 21mm thick for the K750i), the keypad arrangement is different (a little reminiscent of the classic T610 design), the software suite has been improved (it now contains an RSS reader, for example).. and of course, it’s likely to be a lot cheaper at launch than the K750i was.

One of the first three handsets to be launched under the BenQ-Siemens brand, the S88 is a substantially better handset than many we’ve seen from the Siemens camp recently. Pitched at the upper-midrange market, the BenQ-Siemens S88 competes directly against the likes of the Sony Ericsson K750i.

Both the S88 and K750i feature a 2 megapixel camera with LED flash, a 176×220 pixel 262,000 colour display, expandable memory (microSD on the S88), MP3/multimedia player and Bluetooth.

Both handsets have good battery life (7.5 hours talktime for the S88, 9.0 for the K750i). Both weigh around the same (105 grams for the BenQ-Siemens S88, 99 grams for the Sony Ericsson K750i). Both are similar sizes and colours too

It’s pretty clear that BenQ-Siemens intend to pitch the S88 directly against the SE K750i – a handset that has been very popular with users. It’s impossible to say at the moment how the S88 will compare against the competition, as the quality of the S88’s camera and screen are unknown at this point. A lot will be riding on price – really, BenQ-Siemens need to sell the S88 at a significantly lower price than the K750i in order to compete – we think that the S88 should be pitched at around €320 before taxes and subsidy, compared to around €370 for the Sony Ericsson.

On paper, the BenQ-Siemens S88 looks like a pretty good phone – but in the past, BenQ handsets have often proved to be pretty poor in quality terms when they come to market. By competing against the K750i, the S88 is going up against one of the best phones on the market (in our opinion) – which will be a difficult market segment to crash.

The Sony Ericsson K610im is an i-mode version of the lightweight K610i 3G phone. It’s an incredibly light 3G phone, weighing just 89 grams, but it still manages to fit in a 176×220 pixel display, 2 megapixel camera and Memory Stick Micro expandable memory.

As far as we know, this is Sony Ericsson’s first i-mode phone and it’s one of only a few 3G i-mode phones around. And since the K610im is based on one of the hottest 3G phones of 2006, then it’s an attractive option for i-mode users.

The K610im is almost identical to the K610, except it comes with a dedicated i-mode key and carries a discrete “i” on the back of the handset. It’s a “Carbon Black” phone, rather than the “Urban Silver” and “Evening Red” K610i. All other technical characteristics are identical.

Whether or not you actually want i-mode is a different matter – some markets have been more successful than others, and i-mode operators are still trying to find the “killer application” that will make i-mode indispensable. But, if it’s i-mode you’re after, then the K610im looks to be an excellent choice.

The Samsung Z650i is pretty lightweight for a 3G phone, and it still manages to pack a full set of features in, such as stereo Bluetooth, microSD expandable memory, a 2 megapixel camera with flash, an MP3/AAC player, web browser and email client and everything else you’d expect to find.

The specification of the K618i already – it’s a very lightweight 3G phone weighing just 89 grams with a 2 megapixel camera, expandable memory (using Memory Stick Micro cards) with a 256Mb card included, it has Bluetooth and of course an MP3 player.

The K618i’s display is only a 176×220 pixel unit, but this is an acceptable trade-off for the handset’s light weight and it will be good enough for most people. Overall, the K618i shows typically stylish Sony Ericsson design – it’s a smart looking device that is pretty unmistakable in its origins.

Network: GSM 900/1800/1900 + UMTS 2100
Data: GPRS + UMTS (3G)
Screen: 176×220 pixels, 262k colours
Bluetooth: Yes
Memory card: Memory Stick Micro
Infra-red: No
Polyphonic: Yes
Java: Yes
Battery life: Not specified

It’s just that it’s yet another variant of the K610i in addition to the V630 and K610im. The difference between these handsets is cosmetic – they’re just available for different carriers.
