Closely related to Nokia 2660 is Nokia 2760 – just on the gram heavier with 80.5 grams but at this time coming with a posting improved of TFT and a digital camera of resolution of VGA. This also comes with a radio from FM, Bluetooth, a spakerphne and ringtones MP3 but as with the 2660 it has there no player of multi-media and certainly no extensible memory.

The life of battery is also quoted a 7 hours talktime and a time of 13 days resource. Just with a nuance more expensive than Nokia 2660, the €90 Nokia 2760 is due appreciably better to the screen and the camera of active matrix, although the subsidy of carrier always tends to twist prices when they arrive to the consumer.

Nokia more fundamental 2660 will be available in the silver plated of black, silver plated and hot colors. 2760 slightly the more expensive will be available in blue marinates, velvet the red, the smoky gray, the black and arenaceous colors metal of gold. They are the devices with two bands of GSM – available in 850/1900 megahertz or 900/1800 megahertz according to the market.

Nokia 2760 specification:
Network:GSM 850/1900 or GSM 900/1900
Data:GPRS
Screen:128×160 pixels, 65k colours
Camera:0.3 megapixels
Size: Lightweight clamshell, 87 x 45 x 21mm / 79 grams
Bluetooth: Yes
Memory card: No
Infra-red: No
Polyphonic: Yes
Java: Yes
Battery life: 7 hours talk / 13 days standby

The 2660 and 2760 models offer the exceptional value for the money, and although their devices are little the fundamental ones compared with the majority the “half span” model on the European markets, the 2660 and 2760 are aimed at a type different of customer.

Evaluated with €85 just, Nokia 2660 is a lightweigh telephone of higher block of 79 grams with 128×160 a basic posting of Pixel CSTN in 65.000 colors plus a smaller external posting. 2660 A also a radio of FM and ringtones MP3 (but not a full player with multi-media). Surprisingly for a device that it if not very expensive, Nokia 2660 has Bluetooth too.

There are also a function of speakerphone, support of GPRS and WAP and also of transmission of messages of MMS. They all are rather common in telephones of half span, but remember that it is significantly less than €100 which marks it very good value for the money.

The life of battery on Nokia 2660 is impressive – it has 7 hours a maximum talktime with time of resource of up to 13 days.

Samsung U600 is a pretty decent handset lower part, but to be honest the first thing that you notce about the SGH-U600 is its glances. Available in four colors – platinum metal, sapphire blue, red gold and of garnet copper – U600 combined the brilliance of model of KRZR with a rather standard provision of Samsung. There are also some soft keys hidden behind the frozen surface of SGH-U600.

It is a pretty clearly shown telephone – Samsung U600 has of the 2.2 “display of the Pixel 240×320, a camera of 3.2 megapixel, extensible memory of microSD (with 60MB available internally), a player of multi-media able to play behind of the formats of MP3, AAC and WMA, a web browser and the customer of email more of the improvements together with transmission of messages. It is not a telephone 3G, but the SGH-U600 supports the quadruple-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE.

Samsung SGH-U600 Ultra Edition specification:
Network: GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Data: GPRS + EDGE
Screen: 240×320 pixels, 262k colours
Camera: 3.2 megapixels
Size:Slim slider, 103 x 49 x 11mm / weight tbc
Bluetooth: Yes
Memory card: microSD
Infra-red: No
Polyphonic: Yes
Java: Yes
Battery life:Not specified

In a general way U600 measures 103.2 X 49.3 X 10.9 millimetres, but Samsung did not indicate how much it weighs. It is certainly an elegant device looking at, although many people prefer using a compound with a suitable block of keys. and to be honest, you are not wedged exactly for the choice when it comes to the slide blocks from Samsung.

Word of Samsung which the SGH-U600 should be available a certain hour during first quarter of 2007

The Samsung D900 is a compact sliding phone with a 3.13 megapixel digital camera. It’s an impressively slim slider – Samsung say the SGH-D900 is the thinnest slider ever – at just 13mm thick and 85 grams in weight.

In addition to the camera of 3.13 megapixel, Samsung D900 has of the 2.1 “240×320 display of Pixel TFT, 80Mb of internal storage with the expansion of microSD, stereo Bluetooth, quadruple-band GSM with GPRS and EDGE and also a result of TV. The fact that Samsung managed to tighten all that in a so tiny compound is an impressive exploit.

There are also a player of multi-media able to play behind of the audio formats of MP3 and AAC, a digital power amp and the viewer of document, and probably Samsung D900 has all usual things that you would await yourselves from this type of compound. It is a little a compound chechmate to be looked at however – it looks at almost identical to many of other slide blocks of Samsung on the market.

Samsung SGH-D900 specification:
Network:GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Data:GPRS + EDGE

Although it has limited options of design there by treating these ultra-compact telephones, it seems that Samsung did not make great case of an effort make stand SGH-D900 outside. what is a shame because it is completely an impressive compound.

Sony Ericsson K810i seems to be exactly identical that for the last time the K800i years. there are a camera of 3.2 megapixel with the development automatic, a xenon flash and possibilities of multishoot. K810i is a telephone of UMTS 2100 with the support of tri-band GSM, the 2.0 “display of QVGA, extensible memory, a complete continuation of software including/understanding a customer of email, web browser, newsreader of RSS and support blogging and a whole crowd of really fresh devices.. but they seem to be exactly the same ones in K810i as older compound.

Sony Ericsson changed the block of keys. Well, well, they made with ones the cosmetic changes too. but finally different the most significant that we can see is the small funny round buttons where K800i had a conventional trimming of a number. And K810i went a little brilliant also, just as the current fashion.

Sony Ericsson K810i specification:
Network:GSM 900/1800/1900 + UMTS 2100
Data:GPRS + UMTS (3G)
Screen:240×320 pixels, 262k colours
Camera:3.2 megapixels
Size:Medium monoblock, 106 x 48 x 17mm / 115 grams
Bluetooth:Yes
Memory card:Memory Stick Micro
Infra-red:Yes
Polyphonic:Yes
Java:Yes
Battery life:2.5 hours talk / 16 days standby (3G), 10 hours talk / 16 days standby (GSM)

If you can live with the strange block of keys, then Sony Ericsson K810i promises to be the same excellent telephone of camera as its predecessor. If you have K800i. well, to better keep the catch of it for now as Sony Ericsson are dependent to have something high more interesting their casings during posterior inside the year.

There’s a comprehensive multimedia player and stereo Bluetooth support. Motorola’s press department chose to illustrate the RIZR Z8’s multimedia capabilities by slapping on a picture of Johnny Depp for some reason.

Symbian is a little bit of an unusual choice for Motorola. Most of their recent smartphones, including the promising looking ROKR E6 have been Linux devices. Although Motorola have used Symbian in the past, we had almost assumed that they had dropped the operating system entirely.

Motorola RIZR Z8 Specification:
Network:GSM + UMTS
Data:GPRS + UMTS + HSDPA
Screen:240×320 pixels, 16m colours
Camera:2 megpixels
Size:Medium slider, Size/weight tbc
Bluetooth:Yes
Memory card:microSD
Infra-red:No
Polyphonic:Yes
Java:Yes
Battery life:Not specified

The RIZR Z8 is a 3G Symbian smartphone with HSDPA (up to 3.6Mbit/sec), 90Mb of internal memory expandable to 4GB using microSD cards, a 2 megapixel primary camera and an impressive maximum talktime of 5 hours while on 3G.

It’s hard to be enthusiastic about the Motorola RIZR Z8 though, because it’s really just a 3G version of the RIZR, and that’s just a RAZR clamshell phone.

Nokia 6085 is an inexpensive clamshell phone with expandable memory and an MP3 player. It’s a pretty disappointing mix of components that appear to have been thrown together.

Nokia have revise a fairly standard overall look that we’ve seen in other 6000 series clamhshells, and then added a low end 128×160 pixel display and VGA resolution camera. The Nokia 6085 comes with a microSD slot, FM radio, Bluetooth and an MP3 player and usefully it is a quad-band GSM phone.

The screen on the Nokia 6085 is a particular gripe – 128×160 pixels is just not good enough for any modern phone, although at least it is a TFT display so it should be sharp and clear. The VGA resolution camera seems hardly worh including.

Nokia 6085 specification:
Network: GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Data: GPRS + EDGE
Screen: 128×160 pixels, 256k colours
Camera: 0.3 megapixels
Size: Compact clamshell, 92×46x23mm / 84 grams
Bluetooth: Yes
Memory card: microSD
Infra-red: No
Polyphonic: Yes
Java: Yes
Battery life: 5 hours talk / 10 days standby

It’s quite a light phone – the Nokia 6085 weighs just 84 grams – and the quoted battery life is pretty good too, with up to 5 hours talktime and 10 days standby time.

The Nokia 6085 has some good features, but overall it looks like it has be thrown together from a set of components from other handsets. There’s nothing particularly inspiring or distinctive about the 6085, but if you’re looking for a low-cost, lightweight clamshell that can play music and you’re not too fussed about other features, then perhaps the 6085 will be what you are looking for.
