This is not just a little resemble a Blackberry, the Portege G710 is designed exactly the same market as devices such as the BlackBerry 8130 the Portégé stands out, however, that it runs on Windows Mobile, and it is possible using the device with Microsoft Exchange Server to Push E-mail.

This is not a 3G phone – Toshiba Portege G710 is a quad-band GSM device with GPRS and EDGE. There is no WiFi. Although the high-speed data is a nice thing to have, there was really no need for e-mail and Toshiba G710 should include just fine when it comes to messaging.

At 115 x 62 x 13mm and 130 grams in weight, the G710 is quite similar to that of the competition, although a little thinner than most. The 1050 mAh battery, the player G710 for up to 3 hours of talk time and 8 days of standby. Windows Mobile is rather the power of brain cells quickly enough, so that the life of the battery on the G710 is not as good as some of the non-compete.

The 2.46 inch with 320 x 240 pixel screen is pretty standard for this type of aircraft, even if the lack of a touch screen can be irritating, if equipped with a satellite navigation package. On the back of page 2 is a megapixel camera, G710 and memory expandable supports microSD It also comes with Bluetooth phones USB 1.1 and 1.2 connectivity.

No specific release date is known, but we understand that the G710 will be available in early March for about € 220 / £ 150 before taxes, and all holders of subsidies.

At first sight the curve of Blackberry (also called Blackberry 8300) seems infinitely like new Blackberry 8830, but the curve is a device aimed more of the consumers and of much in manners is rather the curve of Blackberry of the Pearl.

The Blackberry is a device of quadruple-band GSM with data of GPRS and EDGE (but no 3G). On before on the 8300 is great and very luminous posting of the Pixel 320×240, a keyboard QWERTY and a mini travelling ball. To reverse the finished curve and you can see a numerical camera of 2 megapixel. The curve of Blackberry also has 64MB internal storage (extensible via the charts of microSD) and of a player of multi-media, web browser.

It is mainly a telephone of transmission of messages, and Blackberry 8300 supports standard protocols of Internet, can support a waiter of corporation of Blackberry or can be used with a solution with wire carrying “email thorough” where available. With Juste 111 grams in the weight, curve 8300 of Blackberry is pretty light for a smartphone of transmission of messages of this type. It is also completely a contract of little more which it model 8800. There is no GPS on the curve (with the difference from the 8800) but it is always a pretty not very common device to find in a compound nowadays.

It can be employed with a receiver Bluetooth-licence of GPS however, and fact the case you can employ the application of charts of Blackberry found on the 8800. Talktime is four hours, which is not an enormous quantity but then the large screen and the relative light weight of the 8300 come at a price. The time of help is 17 days – and it is more close to the kind of figure than you will see whether you employ the curve of Blackberry only to send messages of email.

The Samsung D900 is a compact sliding phone with a 3.13 megapixel digital camera. It’s an impressively slim slider – Samsung say the SGH-D900 is the thinnest slider ever – at just 13mm thick and 85 grams in weight.

In addition to the camera of 3.13 megapixel, Samsung D900 has of the 2.1 “240×320 display of Pixel TFT, 80Mb of internal storage with the expansion of microSD, stereo Bluetooth, quadruple-band GSM with GPRS and EDGE and also a result of TV. The fact that Samsung managed to tighten all that in a so tiny compound is an impressive exploit.

There are also a player of multi-media able to play behind of the audio formats of MP3 and AAC, a digital power amp and the viewer of document, and probably Samsung D900 has all usual things that you would await yourselves from this type of compound. It is a little a compound chechmate to be looked at however – it looks at almost identical to many of other slide blocks of Samsung on the market.

Samsung SGH-D900 specification:
Network:GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Data:GPRS + EDGE
Screen:240×320 pixels, 262k colours
Camera:3.13 megapixels
Bluetooth:Yes
Memory card:Yes
Infra-red:No
Polyphonic:Yes
Java:Yes
Battery life:Not specified

Although it has limited options of design there by treating these ultra-compact telephones, it seems that Samsung did not make great case of an effort make stand SGH-D900 outside. what is a shame because it is completely an impressive compound.

Nokia E90 is “long awaited” would be an understatement. One of the weaknesses of the Nokia 9500 and the Nokia 9300 devices derived from it was a lack of 3G support, and the E90 now adds that. But it’s more that just a port of the old Communicator platform to 3G, the Nokia E90 also adds a GPS receiver and integrated navigation application, a 3.2 megapixel camera, FM radio and a significantly improved screen. As with the 9500, the Nokia E90 retains WiFi support and has a full QWERTY keyboard (although the keyboard has been improved in the E90).

The Communicator series of devices have always had the unfortunate nickname of “the brick”, and the Nokia E90 continues in that tradition. At a hefty 210 grams, the E90 is actually 20 grams lighter than the 9500, but 38 grams heavier than the 9300i. Nokia have done a remarkable job with size though – when viewed from the front (see left), the E90 is about the height and thickness of the compact 9300/9300i while retaining the same width as the 9500 at 132 x 57 x 20mm.

The E90 bears the “Communicator” name for a reason, and it comes with a wide range of communications options. Email support includes standard SMTP/POP3 protocols, various push email options, instant messaging and it even comes with a text-to-speech reader. Network support is quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) plus 2100 MHz UMTS (3G), GPRS and EDGE. Significantly, the Nokia E90 does include HSDPA support allowing for download speeds of up to 3.6Mbit/sec. On top of this the E90 comes with 802.11g WiFi. It’s hard to fault the E90 in terms of the networks it supports, but one omission is the ability to work with UMTS networks on anything other than the 2100 MHz band, which limits its 3G use in the US and some other countries.

Nokia E90 Communicator Specification:
Network:GSM 850/900/1800/1900 + UMTS 2100
Data:GPRS + EDGE + UMTS (3G) + HSDPA + WiFi
Screen:800×352 pixels, 16m colours (main), 240×320 pixels, 16m colours (sub)
Camera:3.2 megapixels (main), 0.1 megapixels (sub)
Size:Large-wide clamshell, 132 x 57 x 20mm / 210 grams
Bluetooth:Yes
Memory card:MicroSD
Infra-red:Yes
Polyphonic:Yes
Java:Yes
Battery life:5 hours talk / 14 days standby

One very significant change from the 9500 is under the hood. This is a Symbian S60 (Series 60) smartphone, rather than the Series 80 operating system on the 9500 and 9300. Although this seems like a step backwards (because Series 80 was written specifically for this type of device), S60 support gives E90 users access to a much wider range of applications. Nokia 9500 users should adjust quickly to the new interface.

On top of all the other features, the Nokia E90 Communicator is also a multimedia phone, with support for MP3 and AAC audio plus video clips. There’s even an FM radio. Data and media clips can be stored on microSD cards with a maximum capacity of 2GB.

Another important feature is the Nokia E90 Communicator’s inbuilt GPS function. This allows for more than just basic location-based services, as Nokia are going to make it’s “Nokia Maps” application available. Although this seems to be a free SatNav (satellite navigation) package, it’s worth remembering that a lot of the value added features require a network connection which might incur data costs.

It’s an HSDPA capable 3.5G smartphone, with download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps (where supported), plus UMTS (3G), EDGE and GPRS, but the Samsung F700 does not appear to support WiFi.

The Samsung F700 will be officially announced at next week’s 3GSM World Congress, but Samsung have given us a brief glimpse of the specifications of this upcoming device in advance.

The SGH-F700’s landscape/portrait mode and slide-out QWERTY keyboard are reminiscent of HTC devices such as the TyTN, but it is quite rare to see other manufacturers with this type of form factor. The Samsung F700 has a 2.8″ 440×240 pixel display which is slightly better than most competing smartphones which have just 320×240 pixels. However, it still can’t compete with the 800×480 pixel display in the Nokia N800. The screen is touch-sensitive, which explains the lack of external controls (apart from the keyboard, of course).

Samsung haven’t said which operating system the SGH-F700 uses. Normally, we’d expect a device of this type to be running a version of Windows, but Samsung’s custom drag-and-drop user interface would seem to indicate that it is something else. Samsung have been shipping Linux smartphones in China for a while, so perhaps the F700 is a Linux device. There’s a full set of multimedia software, a web browser, email client and a document viewer too.

Although Samsung haven’t specified how much the F700 weighs, they have specified its size as a fairly compact 104 x 50 x 16mm. Underneath is a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz and UMTS 2100 MHz device with GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA data support. The F700 also comes with Bluetooth and a microSD memory slot.

Motorola ROKR E6 certainly is new and a little unexpected – it’s a very stylish Linux smartphone with very capable multimedia support. And thankfully it shares almost nothing in common with the original ROKR (we called it the FLOPR), even to the extent that the ROKR E6 doesn’t have iTunes support. The ROKR E2 was a iTunes-less Linux device too, but the ROKR E6 is hugely different.

The main feature on the ROKR E6 is the large 2.4″ touch-sensitive screen with 240×320 pixels in 262,000 colours. Unusually for Motorola, the ROKR E6’s memory expansion is using SD cards rather than microSD cards, and the E6 can take up to 2Gb of memory.

On the back is a 2 megapixel digital camera, and the MOTOROKR E6 also has stereo Bluetooth and an FM radio.

One potential drawback is that the Motorola E6 appears to be a GSM phone only, although it’s possible that it might have EDGE data support in addition to GPRS (although this is not clear at present).

Motorola ROKR E6 specification:
Network: GSM
Data: GPRS + (EDGE?)
Screen: 240×320 pixels, 262k colours
Camera: 2 megapixels
Size: Size/weight tbc
Bluetooth: Yes
Memory card: SD
Infra-red: Not specified
Polyphonic: Yes
Java: Yes
Battery life: Not specified

Multimedia support is pretty comprehensive – the ROKR Motorola E6 supports MP3, AAC, WMA, RealMedia, WMR, WAV, MPEG4, H.263 formats and others. Audio can be played back either through a 3.5mm socket connection orstereo Bluetooth headphones. Media can be transferred to the phone via a USB 2.0 cable or by using a memory card reader.

Motorola are pushing the entertainment features of the ROKR E6, but this is a fully featured PDA with a web browser, email client, Microsoft Office viewer and a full set of personal information management (PIM) functions.

The MOTOROKR E6 looks great and appears to be very capable when it comes to features. It has the combination of design and technology looks to be very appealing.
