Motorola M990 – also known as the Motorola Smart Rider – reminiscent of earlier periods, it is a mobile, specially designed for installation on the vehicle.

It is a strange device research, which is partly due to the extent of 320 x 240 pixels 2.8 “Display, an indication that the M990 Smart Rider is nothing like carphones of the past.

Combined with a surface area of 137mm x 85mm and weighs about 400 grams. The size is an advantage for use in the car (if allowed), but this is not the sort of thing you need to communicate with you.

The Motorola M990 is intended for professional drivers more normal business customers or consumers. So if you have a delivery driver, driver, taxi driver or another type of Road Warrior M990 then perhaps of interest. That may be a small market, but it is one that is not very well and it was very refreshing to see Motorola come with something that is good for these clients to measure demographic.

The big screen is related to the M990-based GPS satellite navigation system. But GPS is not the only round of the Channel-M990, it also offers a voice recognition system expanded, which can be used for the election or mobile telephone calls, Bluetooth technology, e-mail client, Web browser and quad-band GSM and GPRS EDGE data protection.

Navigation on the M990 Smart Rider traffic reports and features to integrate real-time redirection. It may also be suitable for implementation of fleet management and to enable the tracking of vehicles.

It is a niche product, but it seems very well. Motorola said that the M990 Smart Rider should be available throughout the world, starting in June 2008, despite the absence has been on cost management.

What makes the Samsung F300 so special is something that we can’t show you.. because Samsung’s press office have only supplied a picture of one side of the SGH-F300. Here’s the clever thing: on one side of the F300 is a “music player” interface with a large screen and multidirectional pad.. on the other side is a conventional numeric keypad plus a much smaller screen. It’s the first time we’ve ever seen this on a mobile phone, and it’s just such a darned shame we can’t show it to you. This arrangement is also found on the Samsung F500.

Internal memory is 100Mb, and this can be expanded using microSD cards to a maximum of 2Gb. The F300’s media player is pretty comprehensive, with support for MP3, AAC and WMA audio formats plus the SGH-F300 supports MPEG4 and H.263 video types. There’s also an FM radio built in.

The numeric keypad side of the Samsung SGH-F300 the “phone side” and the side with the large screen the “multimedia side” just to be clear. The multimedia side features a large 2.1″ 176×220 pixel display in 262,000 colours. Underneath that is a multiway navigation key that illuminates a little like the Samsung E900. Samsung say that the F300’s multimedia control “makes navigation very intuitive”.

Flip the Samsung F300 over to the phone side, and there’s a two megapixel digital camera. Of course, with the numeric keypad on the same side, people who you photograph are going to wonder just what the heck you are doing. But the arrangement is still really, really cool.

Of course, the Samsung SGH-F300 is a Bluetooth handset – in this case the F300 supports stereo Bluetooth 2.0. There’s also a USB 2.0 interface so that you can connect the F300 to a PC.

Underneath it all, the Samsung SGH-F300 is a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 device with GPRS and EDGE data (but no 3G). Physical measurements are 104 x 44 x 9.4mm, although the weight in not known.

Motorola ROKR E6 certainly is new and a little unexpected – it’s a very stylish Linux smartphone with very capable multimedia support. And thankfully it shares almost nothing in common with the original ROKR (we called it the FLOPR), even to the extent that the ROKR E6 doesn’t have iTunes support. The ROKR E2 was a iTunes-less Linux device too, but the ROKR E6 is hugely different.

The main feature on the ROKR E6 is the large 2.4″ touch-sensitive screen with 240×320 pixels in 262,000 colours. Unusually for Motorola, the ROKR E6’s memory expansion is using SD cards rather than microSD cards, and the E6 can take up to 2Gb of memory.

On the back is a 2 megapixel digital camera, and the MOTOROKR E6 also has stereo Bluetooth and an FM radio.

One potential drawback is that the Motorola E6 appears to be a GSM phone only, although it’s possible that it might have EDGE data support in addition to GPRS (although this is not clear at present).

Motorola ROKR E6 specification:
Network: GSM
Data: GPRS + (EDGE?)
Screen: 240×320 pixels, 262k colours
Camera: 2 megapixels
Size: Size/weight tbc
Bluetooth: Yes
Memory card: SD
Infra-red: Not specified
Polyphonic: Yes
Java: Yes
Battery life: Not specified

Multimedia support is pretty comprehensive – the ROKR Motorola E6 supports MP3, AAC, WMA, RealMedia, WMR, WAV, MPEG4, H.263 formats and others. Audio can be played back either through a 3.5mm socket connection orstereo Bluetooth headphones. Media can be transferred to the phone via a USB 2.0 cable or by using a memory card reader.

Motorola are pushing the entertainment features of the ROKR E6, but this is a fully featured PDA with a web browser, email client, Microsoft Office viewer and a full set of personal information management (PIM) functions.

The MOTOROKR E6 looks great and appears to be very capable when it comes to features. It has the combination of design and technology looks to be very appealing.
