Blackberry 8800 is what occurs when you cross the pearl of Blackberry 8100 with Blackberry 8700 and then add a little extra.

Very similar in the face and the weight to the 8700, the 8800 additions the rich support of multi-media, the memory of microSD positive and the navigation extensible of travelling with recognition decided not to add a camera to this business-directed device.

The multi-media one support is rather foreseeable nowadays, but the interesting addition with Blackberry 8800 is the inclusion of the support of GPS (system of total positioning), which once combined with the Blackberry of the RIM traces the application which allows satellite navigation, and it integrates even in the address book of blackberry.

The 8800 maintains an excellent posting similar of the Pixel 320×240 to the 8700 and it supports quadruple-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 megahertz plus GPRS and EDGE, but not the UMTS (3G). The 8800 also supports Bluetooth, although the stereo playback requires an ear-phone of cable.

It is a Blackberry, and naturally this means that the 8800 maintains the possibilities of transmission of messages of others handhelds of Blackberry, including the standard Internet proclaims a protocol and support of email of pushed Blackberry of the users of corporation. Talktime is up to 5 a.m., and the time of help is 22 days an astonishing maximum. In a general way, Blackberry 8800 measures 114 X 66 X 14mm and weighs 134 grams.

At the beginning the 8800 will be available with the radio of Cingular in the radio of the United States and Rogers to Canada, follow-up of other carriers in the whole world. [ via mobilegazette ]

BlackBerry 8707v is the first 3G BlackBerry device to market. It’s a derivative of the ubiquitous BlackBerry 8700 series of devices, and it appears to have the same functionality as the 8700, just with added support for UMTS 2100 3G data.

There are limitations with the 8707v though. There’s no WiFi, unlike some recent messaging devices, nor is there any expandable memory (internal memory comprises of 64Mb of Flash memory plus 16Mb dynamic RAM). There’s no MP3 player or camera either. Of course, many businesses actually want these limitations as it makes the device simpler to manage.

For your information, the “v” in “8707v” indicates that this is a Vodafone device. Vodafone Germany are the first region to announce that they will have the 8707v available in the very near future (hence the QWERTZ keyboard pictured). It’s likely that other operators will follow suit, but because this is a UMTS 2100 device it won’t work with 3G in North America (although like the other 8700 series devices, it’s a quad-band GSM phone too).

BlackBerry 8707v specification:
Network: UMTS 2100 + Quad-band GSM
Data: UMTS 2100 + GPRS + EDGE
Screen: 320×240 pixels, 65,000 colours
Camera: No
Size: PDA-style device, 110×70x20mm / 136 grams (approx)
Bluetooth: Yes
Memory card: Yes
Infra-red: No
Polyphonic: Yes
Java: Yes
Battery life: Not specified

With the other 8700 series BlackBerries, the 8707v comes with a 320×240 pixel display, a web browser, PIM functions and Bluetooth. It goes without saying that the BlackBerry 8707v supports standard internet email protocols and BlackBerry push email.. ah well, we just said it. It can also view a variety of document formats, including Microsoft Office, Corel WordPerfect and Adobe PDF files but now the 8707v can download these attachments much more quickly.

Of course, when paired with a notebook, the 3G BlackBerry 8707v can act as a pretty respectable modem. It’s still an awkward sort of shape and format to use with a phone, but then a Bluetooth headset will help a little in this respect.
