Samsung and Sony Joint Venture S-LCD Technology
Samsung Electronics and Sony Corporation today announced that on a treaty establishing a new 8-generation amorphous TFT-LCD production line at their joint venture S-LCD Corporation.

S-LCD, founded in April 2004, began its 7th Operation online generation April 2005 and its first generation 8 online exploitation August 2007 on the manufacture and delivery TFT-LCD panels from Samsung and Sony. For increasing global demand for LCD televisions, Samsung and Sony agreed to strengthen the capacity of the Generation 8.
The total investment for the 8-2 line is about 1.8 trillion won (approximately $ 1.9 billion billion/200 JPY) and be invested S-LCD. It is built in Tangjeong production complex and is designed after the start of the second quarter of 2009. The production capacity of the new line is scheduled for the beginning of 60000 sheets per month (a glass substrate input base). The size of glass substrate of this line is 2200 x 2500mm.
Adding the line 8-2, with the current generation 7 and 8th lines Tangjeong, S-LCD, it is understood that a stable and efficient supplier, Samsung and Sony large LCD panels.
