Pioneer Kuro has been selected as one of the best plasma TVs of 2008 because of it's very good black levels and picture quality. Panasonic PZ800U and PZ850U series have very good models too. I personally like the Pioneer Kuro better because I almost always watch TV with lights out so I really get all the benefits that those black levels offer.
