This document describes how to connect an iPhone/iPod Touch to the RMIT secure wireless network (RMIT-WPA). The steps to getting connected are connecting to unsecured RMIT wireless network, installing the RMIT University profile and then connecting to the secure RMIT-WPA network. Finally, proxy settings must be configured. These steps are documented in this guide.
Before beginning your wireless configuration, please ensure your Novell (NDS) account is active and that the password has not expired. This is your staff ‘e’ number or your student ‘s’ number. It is necessary to first connect to the unsecured RMIT network so that the RMIT profile can be downloaded, enabling connection to the secure network. To connect to the unsecure RMIT network.
A constant connection must be maintained as the wireless connection to a laptop uses a secure tunnel. Disconnection simply requires econnection and possibly to re-logon to any web sites you were signed into at the time of disconnection. To avoid being disconnected from the RMIT
wireless network.

You can remotely wipe the contents of an iPhone or iPod touch. Doing so quickly removes all data and configuration information from the device, then the device is securely erased and restored to original, factory settings. It can take approximately one hour for each 8 GB of device capacity for the process to finish. With Exchange Server 2007, you can initiate a remote wipe using the Exchange Management Console, Outlook Web Access, or the Exchange ActiveSync Mobile Administration Web Tool. With Exchange Server 2003, you can initiate a remote wipe using the Exchange ActiveSync Mobile Administration Web Tool. Users can also wipe a device in their possession by choosing “Erase All Content and
Settings” from the Reset menu in General settings. Devices can also be configured to automatically initiate a wipe after several failed passcode attempts.

If your company currently supports Exchange ActiveSync on Exchange Server 2003 or 2007, you already have the necessary services in place to support iPhone 2.0 software—no additional configuration is required. If you have Exchange Server but your company is new to Exchange ActiveSync, review the following steps to enable Exchange ActiveSync.
Network configuration
• Check to ensure port 443 is open on the firewall. (Note: If your company allows Outlook Web Access, port 443 is most likely already open on your firewall.)
• On the Front-End Server, verify that a server certificate is installed and enable SSL for the Exchange ActiveSync virtual directory (require basic SSL authentication).
• On the Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server, verify that a server certificate is installed and update the public DNS to properly resolve incoming connections.
• On the ISA Server, create a Web listener as well as an Exchange Web client access publishing rule according to Microsoft documentation. This is a necessary step in enabling Exchange ActiveSync.
• For all firewalls and network appliances, set the Idle Session Timeout to 30 minutes (check your Microsoft Exchange documentation for alternative heartbeat and timeout intervals).

1. Do not install both Trip1PogoStick and SummerBoard on 1.1.1 — you’ll get startup freeze (stuck on Apple logo), especially if you’ve used
previous 1.1.1. upgrade methods, including iNdepenence 1.2.2. and/or Trip1Prepz. We made this mistake and that’s what inspired us to start
fresh and document every step for you. Use iTunes to restore to a fresh 1.1.1 state if this occurs.
2. Do not install the 1.1.1 tweaks with SummerBoard. They are not compatible SummerBoard and Customize and will screw up your Springboard forcing to to restore to 1.1.1 and then start the 50 step process all over again. We attempted this and ended up with a blank Springboard, no icons, and no phone functionality. The closest we’ve come to a brick, yet, in all our of hacking tests.

Before you can use any of iPhone’s features, you must activate iPhone by signing up for an AT&T service plan and registering iPhone with the network. If you already have an AT&T (Cingular) wireless account, you can choose to upgrade your account to work with iPhone, or you can keep using your old phone and add a new line for iPhone. (Some accounts may not be upgradable.) You can transfer your current phone number to iPhone, or get a new one.
