Nokia 6300 the Elegan Monoblock

The Nokia 6300 is an elegant “monoblock” handset with distinctive styling and a stainless steel chassis that also manages to deliver in terms of features.
At 91 grams, the Nokia 6300 is pretty lightweight. There’s a little confusion over the size. Nokia’s press release say that the 6300 is “less than 13.1mm thick”, however the technical specifications for the 6300 say that it’s 11.7mm thick (admittedly, that is less than 13.1mm thick, but it’s kind of an odd thing to say).
When it comes to looks, the Nokia 6300 looks a little bit like a slider.. but it’s not. There are certainly design elements there from handsets such as the Nokia 6111 and even the Nokia 3230, but it does look distinctly different from most other Nokia handsets.
For the camera there’s a 2″ 240×320 pixel display on the 6300, plus a 2 megapixel camera, microSD expandable memory (with 135Mb of internal memory), Bluetooth, a multimedia player and an FM radio.

The slim size and relatively light weight do come at a cost though – talktime is just 3.5 hours with up to 14 days standby. Still, that’s good enough for most people.. but it does mean that the 6300 isn’t quite so attractive as a business phone.
The Nokia 6300 will be available in two tri-band versions, 850/1800/1900 for North America and 900/1800/1900 for the rest of the world. There’s also EDGE support in addition to GPRS, but no 3G.
