It was pre-installed with Linux. I was not happy. Linux has to be the worst operating system ever. I know its free, but its rubbish. I came to your site to hopefully find out how to change operating systems. But I just couldn't get my head round the gist of it. Too complicated for me. But I found my own way.. To install Windows XP SP1 from CD Rom, I got an external DVD drive, downloaded the bootable bios from HP support site. Put the bios on an sd card (which had been formatted on my main PC), put that into a usb card reader and kept it aside. I plugged the DVD drive into the USB port. On starting up, and by pressing F10 when prompted I went into system configurations and changed the boot priority of the netbook to boot into USB DVD drive first. I pressed any key to let the XP disc begin Windows XP set up. I followed the instructions to wipe the partitions and format the HDD. It got as far as copying all files needed, rebooted, then had an error message with continuing installation. So I shut it down again. When I restarted I pressed F10 and changed boot priority so the HDD booted first. Again on starting up I had an error message. So I shut down and inserted the USB card reader with the bios on the SD card. This time the netbook booted into Windows XP straight away and installation continued. I eventually got windows XP on my netbook and installed all the netbook drivers I downloaded from HP support site onto it as well. My advice to anyone is just use an external CD or DVD drive.. Much easier.. In steps (which hopefully works for other types of netbooks).. 1. Download all drivers for your netbook from product support site. Format a flash drive or memory card (you should have a USB card reader if you are using a memory card like I did) and copy the bootable bios onto it. 2.
