Motorola RIZR Z8

motorola-rizr-z8Unlike conventional sliders with a simply up/down mechanism, the RIZR Z8 curves inwards so that it is more ergonomic to use, rather like a clamshell phone.

There’s a comprehensive multimedia player and stereo Bluetooth support. Motorola’s press department chose to illustrate the RIZR Z8’s multimedia capabilities by slapping on a picture of Johnny Depp for some reason.

Nokia N77 Preview

Nokia E90 Communicator

Nokia E90 is “long awaited” would be an understatement. One of the weaknesses of the Nokia 9500 and the Nokia 9300 devices derived from it was a lack of 3G support, and the E90 now adds that. But it’s more that just a port of the old Communicator platform to 3G, the Nokia E90 also adds a GPS receiver and integrated navigation application, a 3.2 megapixel camera, FM radio and a significantly improved screen. As with the 9500, the Nokia E90 retains WiFi support and has a full QWERTY keyboard (although the keyboard has been improved in the E90).

Sony Ericsson K750i

sony-ericsson-k750The K750 is very similar to the W810i “Walkman” phone, sharing the shame 176×220 pixel 262,000 colour display, Bluetooth, removable memory and capable audio and video playback features. On top of all this, the K750 has a web browser and email client plus PC synchronisation capabilities.

There’s 38Mb of memory as standard with the K750, and the handset is bundled with a 64Mb memory stick duo card, upgradable to 2Gb. That’s enough for a substantial number of video clips, MP3s and anything else you can thing of. There’s also a FM radio and enhanced 3D support for games.

LG PRADA KE850 Phone

lg-prada-phoneAt its heart, the LG KE850 PRADA is a tri-band GSM phone with GPRS and EDGE, there’s a large 240×400 pixel touch-sensitive display that can playback widescreen video clips, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expandable memory, and the KE850 has an FM radio and a two megapixel camera. We measure the display as being 3.2 inches diagonally, a little smaller than the iPhone’s 3.5 inches. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to the Apple iPhone, the LG KE850 designed in conjunction with PRADA is an advanced touchscreen-only phone with sleekly understated looks.

Sony Ericsson K550i Cybershot

The Sony Ericsson K550i (and the i-mode variant, the K550im) are perhaps a good example of the way technology progresses in the mobile phone industry. Almost two years ago, Sony Ericsson announced what was then their high-end camera phone, the K700i. Today, the K550i shares almost exactly the same features, but as the number designation shows, Sony Ericsson now regards this particular handset as a mid-range device.
