    Inventec Mercury i-mate JAQ Review

    November 28, 2006 | Gadgets, Microsoft, PDA Handhelds | 4 Comments

The i-mate JAQ is otherwise known as the Inventec Mercury, sourced from a different Taiwanese firm from HTC. Although i-mate haven't officially split from HTC, this new partnership follows O2's move to source some of it's Windows smartphones from manufacturers other than HTC, and comes against a background of HTC selling handsets under its own name for the first time. It's a Windows Mobile 5.0 device with a QWERTY keyboard, 320x240 pixel display and expandable memory and you'd be right. And...

Sony Ericsson M600i with 3G Phone Review

    November 26, 2006 | Cellular Phone, Gadgets, Sony Ericsson | 2 Comments

The Sony Ericsson M600i is a 3G phone with tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900), expandable memory (using Memory Stick Micro cards), plus a full range of applications including the Opera web browser, an email client, and multimedia player. Plus the M600i comes with a jog-dial control in addition to the touchscreen, as does the larger P900 series. It supports a variety of push email applications too, such as BlackBerry and Visto, and it comes with a range of different VPN clients in order to...

    BlackBerry 8700 Series

November 23, 2006 | BlackBerry, Cellular Phone, Gadgets, PDA Handhelds | 14 Comments

The BlackBerry's manufacturers RIM have successfully pushed out variants of the 8700 into many major markets. Although primarily sold as the 8700g, there are also network specific versions for Rogers of Canada (8700c), Orange and subsidiaries (8700f) and Vodafone and partners (8700v). The differences between the models appear to be mainly styling and software. Buy BlackBerry 8700 directly from Amazon The 8700 and 7290 are about the same size, but significantly the 8700 is narrower at...

LG KU800 the 3G Chocolate Cellphone

    November 23, 2006 | Cellular Phone, Gadgets, LG, Vodafone | 8 Comments

The LG KU800 is a 3G version of the LG "Chocolate" KG800 phone, which should be available from Vodafone (pictured) and some other operators by Christmas 2006. It's a great looking phone, and of course the original LG Chocolate was one of the most attractive phones of 2006. The most serious flaw with the Chocolate was the way that the heat-sensitive keys were just TOO sensitive and would activate accidentally. We don't know if LG have fixed this in the KU800, but our advice would be to back...

    Motorola MS600 RAZR Z CDMA

November 23, 2006 | Cellular Phone, Gadgets, Motorola | Comments Off

The Motorola MS600 RAZR Z is a CDMA device, not a GSM device, aimed at the Korean market. The MS600 RAZR Z is interesting though, because it's a rare Motorola sliding phone and it's quite possible that we'll see a GSM version sometime during 2006. At 110 grams and 104x51x14.8mm overall, the MS600 RAZR R isn't as light or as compact as some sliders, and it doesn't appear to come with any expandable memory (although we could be wrong). There's been quite a bit of fuss about this handset in...

Samsung SGH-i320 with Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone

    November 23, 2006 | Cellular Phone, Gadgets, Samsung | 2 Comments

The Samsung i320 is a Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone with a BlackBerry 7100-style keypad, 320x240 pixel display, 1.3 megapixel camera, plus 120Mb internal memory plus microSD expansion and Bluetooth. It comes with all the usual software features you'd expect in a Windows device too. At 95 grams, this is an impressively lightweight device, and the SGH-i320 measures only 111x59x12mm. It's a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 device with GPRS and EDGE, but there's no 3G or WiFi support here. The...
